A good thing I noticed when reading this also is that I am already doing a couple of the things Damon suggests and they do work and it helped to know I am going in the right direction.

I spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out how to write my first ever review for any book in the most perfect way. It’s a mental struggle even to write a simple review without thinking too much:) Perfectionism is an addiction that I let myself succumb to. Of all things in life that can suck one’s happiness I think ‘perfectionism’ is the most stealthy one. There are so many things out there to blame for unhappiness and even when you blame yourself for it imagine how difficult it is to accept that you have fallen to your own self beliefs.This is a great book for someone who is struggling in life because of perfectionism. Even for others there are useful things to know. It doesn’t take a lot time to go through the book and this short amount of time would definitely be a time well spent for everyone.This book doesn’t cover a lot of theory or about psychological triggers for perfectionism. However there are references to relevant articles and studies. This is a very short book even so it took a very short time to connect with myself. I think this would be the case with you especially if you are a perfectionist. I could immediately connect to the personal experiences shared by Damon since that’s exactly how perfectionism affects me and also for the reason that my perfectionism doesn’t allow me to be challenged by others easily. I find it very important to learn lessons from someone who has walked the same path in which I am travelling now.I could easily acknowledge the “12 negative impacts of perfectionism” described in part one of this book. It was like someone describing my current experiences in life. Part two of the book helps to evaluate the severity of perfectionism in one’s life. I scored full marks on the pop quiz at the end of the chapter. Let me know if you beat me on that ;)The third and final part of the book is all about action where Damon lists 12 ideas to overcome perfectionism. Again these ideas are covered in very few pages and is to the point. You could clearly see that the focus is on getting someone to start executing them without spend too much time on reading a lot more.I have been following some of the ideas in the last few weeks and have seen a great impact already. Just reading the book has reduced my level of self-criticism. By following few of the ideas I have been able to avoid triggers that let my ‘perfectionist inner critic’ to take control of me. I also have been able to realize when I am under the influence of perfectionist thoughts and pull myself back on track. The same situation few months back would have carried me onto a runaway train. I am slowly working on following the other ideas too and would recommend everyone to give them a try. I know it’s a tough road ahead for us but I am sure Damon has more books in line to revitalize us down the road. Good luck everyone!Thanks Damon for this book. I have gotten a taste of the joy of imperfection and it is a soothing experience.

In my opinion, this is one of the best books on perfectionism that I have read. Easy read with concrete examples and exercises that you can practice to work through to slowly rid yourself of a perfectionistic mindset. I believe that it is worth reading multiple times.

I have learned that I am not a perfectionist as defined by this author, not at all. I always thought I was, but maybe I am "just" OCD. I feel so badly for anyone who meets this author's definition as life sure would be hell and an endless nightmare. Admitting that I am not a perfectionist, that ends up really not qualifying me to leave feedback on the suggested interventions, but I will anyway from my non perfectionist position. If one were a perfectionist, I would think it would take a tremendous amount of effort and time for the suggested interventions to work, and likely not even then. The mindset would be deep and a few techniques and exercises wouldn't cut it. Interestingly, there are numerous grammatical errors and I can't help but wonder if they were done on purpose to make a point.

Doesnt offer much in terms of guidance. Just call it a book fr the wicked.

I've been drawing for over 20 years with recently having an interest in drawing buildings and structures. I purchased this book thinking it would get me started on doing so, and I was excited when it arrived. It did get me started; however, I'm not thrilled about the instructions. I do like that it doesn't have worded instructions, but as one reviewer mentioned, it jumps from simplicity to complexity in a matter of four "steps." Not to mention, when it comes to the "final" step, it's completely finished! Where did those extra lines come from?! Sometimes it's difficult to make out the lines or dots in the finished products because they're so close together.If I didn't have drawing experience, this would be extremely challenging. I don't know how this is appropriate for an 8 year old but people develop at their own pace.

This is a very basic drawing book, shows drawing lines placement step by step,( with out written words) if you dutifully dislike rulers and measurements (preferring eyeing measurements) This is the book for you! If you desire rulers and measurements of course you may! Each picture ends with a basic sketch out line with some details. If desire more detailing and more elaborate buildings it's simple to mix and match different parts of Lee J. Ames buildings in this book to create your own designed look. If your not familiar with drawing architecture this is a good place to start -(trains your eye to look for the lines in buildings and how they correlate to one another), developing skills to drawing structures from photos or out in the field.

We purchased this for our 9 year old daughter. She immediately drew a likeness of Big Ben, following the step by step instructions. The book is great for anyone, young or old.

I was looking for something a bit more detailed and maybe with suggestions on drawing actual buildings. This book is more better suited for children. For a child looking to draw structures, it is a helpful start.

Great book, good practice for urban sketching which is why I bought it. Love the series.

I used this both as an art teacher and as a reading teacher. Boys love to draw these things. In art, they need to really see and notice detail, and they have to persevere until they get it right. In reading, they have to do the art skills, and follow directions. Since it's non-fiction, it fits in with today's education trends. This is a short book--about 180 pages. I'm glad it was short---it was terribly painful to read. Not because of poor writing by Panian. The author did an excellent job of telling the story of the Armenian genocide--without dramatics. I think the fact that the book was written as the remembrance of the little boy who experienced it--is why it was so hard to read. I think this segment of the genocide--the orphans who had lost all their families and then were told to forget about them and their culture--is truly an untold story. I plan to read another book about the Armenian genocide--this one was my first--because of the response of my Turkish guides when I was in Turkey a few years ago. We actually went to far eastern Turkey near where the majority of the genocide occurred. The guides did not want to talk about it--in fact they even portrayed it as something that really had happened. 1 1/2 million people were killed. Turkey has done an outstanding job of covering up the genocide they unleashed.

A TRUE STORY OF SURVIVAL.A 5 year old boy survives against all odds during the forced deportations and massacres by the Ottoman Turks of Armenian families from their homeland into the deserts of Syria.After loosing every member of his family in the harsh conditions of the desert and the cruelty of the Turkish soldiers, he finds himself in a camp orphanage in Lebanon where the kids were forced to change their identity.The Antoura orphanage was another project of the Armenian genocide by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk; its administrators sought to transform the children into Turks by changing their Armenian names, forcing them to speak Turkish, and erasing their history.This is an incredible story of determination, survival and how children recognize injustice and fight back in the most imaginative ways. The story of Karnig is the story of my Grandfathers (Ardashes) cousin. Reading it takes me back to when my Grandparents came to visit and my "dede: told me the story's of Gurin, its hot springs, and hour clan was quite sizable once before the Turks decided to slaughter us. It is especially difficult to read his memoirs when it hits so close to home. Thanks to the perseverance of Karnig, my Grandfather Ardashes and all of the Grandparents and great-parents of that generation the Panian clan has added three heirs to its thrown and perhaps one day will grow to be as sizable as it once was before in Gurin.

Why can't the Turks do as the Germans have done? Acknowledge the atrocity so the present can go on living. Modern day Germans are not responsible for the Holocaust. Modern day Turks are not responsible for the Armenian Genocide, but only when they freely acknowledge it. This is a remarkable personal account from one survivor--of what did really happen.

Chapters are divided chronologically. Most of the memoir is focused on Panians life in the orphanage after their exodus from Gurin to the desert deportation camps. Many footnotes are included and were very helpful.Pages 59-65 and pages 157-166 are strictly black and white historical photographs showing the orphanage, orphans, important leaders, and Panians later life after the war.The memoir starts when Panian is 5 years old which makes it difficult to trust every detailed recollection. As stated, the bulk of his story lies within the orphanage and sometimes get wordy and listless. However, his life in the desert deportation camp and his life after the orphanage was somberly intruging.

Sad but fascinating about the Armenian Genocide. I donated it to the public library here and dedicated it to my dear friend's father, also dear, who was affected as a small child and whose life was formed by the decade long Genocide and whose USA citizenship I stood up for long ago.Everyone should know about the Armenian Genocide.Hitler used it somewhat as a prototype for his evil final solution

As an Armenian who knows little about my families history other than that my great grandmother, who lived through the genocide, survived and would not speak openly about here horrific experience at the hands of the Turks, I was greatly moved and thankful for this story told by Mr Panian. The story despite the horror it shares is a wonderful story of survival and determination to remain grounded in faith and family despite attempts to strip that away. I would recommend to anyone who is interested in a heart felt story and the happenings of the Armenian Genocide. I feel like it's an appropriate read for ages 13 and above.

Good book to gain perspective of the Armenian Genocide but I am doubtful of it's status as a true Memoir because the narrator was 5 years old during his time so I kind of doubt his reliability as a narrator. I wonder if it is a compilation of stories that Panian collected from many people to create his memoir but I would call it more "based on a true story" than a memoir.

I am a fan of National Geographic. As a soccer fan and the dream to become a soccer player, my son absolutely loved it - he enjoyed all the interesting facts that this book is packed with. The good thing is that the child can read small bits & pieces instead of reading whole pages. He can skim through easily on to the information he wants to read.

I was disappointed because it wasn't what I expected. I thought the book was too small and the facts weren't that exciting for a kid, especially a girl, etc. But I gave it to my 8 year old daughter anyways, and she loves it. She's only skimmed through and read a few things (I think that's what she likes about it - you can read it in pieces) - but she said it was one of her favorite gifts.

This was a gift for my son. He told he wanted to learn more about soccer. But when I ask him about this book, he has nothing to say. Sometimes you have to ignore the things your kid agrees too.

My son loves this book. There's so much information and at his reading level too. He is in first grade now and loves soccer. This book has history and lots of interesting facts.

Purchased for my grandson as a Christmas gift so I can't rate it as he does not have it yet.

Got as a gift for a grand nephew. He is a big soccer fan, but seemed perplexed by some of the content. I know nothing about soccer, so not sure of the issue...

I bought this for my son for Christmas. He was really excited when he opened it. There are enough pictures and graphics to grab a nine year old's attention. We have been out of town for the holidays but I am confident that once we get home and settle down he will thoroughly enjoy this book.

My 10 year old competitive dancer loved this book. She normally has a difficult time sitting through and finishing books but she couldn't put it down. She loved it. Highly recommend to other dancers who can relate to the story.

Great for law students, lawyers, judges, paralegals/legal assistants, and just about anyone else dealing with legal language. This book gives alternatives to stilted, overused, and misused, language. Worth the price (especially if one compare it on a site like Nextag, Shopzilla, and others).

A must-have for the lawyer who is always looking for the perfect word or phrase. I pull this out all the time for motion practice, but it has really been key for some Federal Circuit briefs. I've never quite figured out why the index is half the book, and what the difference is from the "thesaurus" part, but it's all good. I bought a used copy in great condition, and wonder why someone would give this up!

Just want to say ... buying and getting this to a prison inmate was a success. He received the book and as far as I know it was in great condition..he didnt say anything about it being used. So assume it was in new condition. I am just glad I found a place I can send books to at prison with low cost. Will be certainly buying more. He is reading it page by page.
