I have been teaching for 7 years and I have never seen such an amazing response to a book. Students are begging to read it over and over again. I loved the ability to make choices and talk about the outcomes. I loved how sometimes Danny's brother egged him on and we could talk about not having control over someone else and only having control over how you respond. I loved that when Danny asked for a snack he didn't get chocolate and we could talk about "getting what we want" versus "making a good choice." I also love the forgiveness from Danny's parents when he has a bad day and the encouragement to make the next day better. I am a pre-kindergarten teacher, so I have four and five-year-olds. I have checked out dozens and dozens of books on behavior from the library and tried many different techniques and I could not seem to get my students to grasp the concept of how making one choice can lead to another etc. etc. Not only do the kids in my class have so much fun choosing Danny’s choices in the story, but they also love seeing how the story can change depending on what they decide for Danny. They are finally grasping the concept that not only can one bad choice lead to another and have an effect on others, but you can also change a bad morning into a great afternoon or vice versa. My students constantly ask me if we can “hang out with Danny” and I have everyone’s attention when I pull out this book, even the most difficult behavioral students. I wholeheartedly wish there were more books like this! My students are actually involved in the story instead of just listening. Active participators certainly learn more! Five stars all the way!!!

This is a wonderful book to help children understand the role their choices play in what happens next. My son is almost 8 and can easily tell what Danny should do, so he made all the right choices the first time through. But...he wanted to read the book again making all the wrong choices, then do a pattern of 'right/wrong' then 'wrong/right'. The book does such a nice job of showing how Danny's choices impact his day along the way and how his day can have ups and downs. As my son and I debriefed we talked about what choices my son would make, and he admitted times he'd want to make the right choice, but might make the wrong choice. We then talked about how everyone makes mistakes and what could he do to make amends when that happens.I am a graduate student going into school counseling. I like to try things out on my own son to see if I will use them with students in the future. I will definitely be using What Should Danny Do? and hope the authors create additional books.

For the first time, I wished I could give more stars than 5. Absolutely amazing book for 5-6yrs old. Got a lot freebies like a poster, stickers and a personal note from the authors.Our sincere request, please write more books like this. The illustrations are equally marvelous as well. 100/100 for this book. :)

What an amazing book! "What Should Danny Do" is a choose your own adventure book that empowers children (and adults) to see the consequences of their own actions. As a parent, this book is so powerful. Flipping back and forth between scenarios open the discussion for the kids to see how Danny's day would change based on the decisions he makes...should he throw a tantrum for not getting the plate that he wants for breakfast or should he let it go and learn to share. Each situation is relevant to real life examples and drives the point home that our children have the ability to change their life. I bought this book for my home and one for my waiting room at my office. And then a 3rd to give as a present. This is an ideal book for parents, teachers, and anybody who takes care of kids. Read it together or on your own. The story line concept is so cool and the illustrations are phenomenal. Go buy it. 10 stars!

My kids live in a time of so much choice- so many options. Everything is available at the impulsive click of a button. This book helps my kids focus on the choices they make, the paths they can choose, and the results that follow. It returns the power to choose into their hands. It reminds them to be mindful of their actions and reap rewards for better choices. I can't think of a more powerful book for my children!P.S- It's also super fun to read ;) My 7 and 10 year old both love it!

I’d seen this type of book before- with multiple endings - but in books for older kids. This is exactly the right thing for 4-5 year olds... it shows a kid for whom the reader can make and change choices to change how his day goes. Life actually works exactly like that, whether you’re 5 or 50, but this is written in kid terms like this: What should Danny do: stomp really hard on Charlie’s foot, or tell Charlie that what he did wasn’t nice? And we turn to a different page and see what happens next based on which option the reader chooses. My 5 year olds were in a loud disagreement earlier tonight and I was able to suggest that they can choose what to do, giving them a couple of alternatives like the book does.. They were playing together again literally a minute after I said that. That book has paid for itself already! I highly recommend it.

The idea behind this book is really cool. You flip to different pages depending on what the child chooses and it changes the story. However, the consequences were very vindictive and dramatic and there was not emotional support modeled from the parent. If you practice gentle parenting and your goal is to maintain a good relationship with your child, this is not the book for you.

This book is ingenious. The scenarios are all very relatable and happen on a daily basis to all kids. Makes them realize that they have "The Power to Choose" between the right thing to do and the wrong thing to do all the time.
