I think I have read 90% of decluttering/organizing books on the market. Organizing is something I have always been able to do. Decluttering, not so much. (Okay, not at all.) However, this book has what it takes to motivate me to declutter. Perhaps the timing is just right; when the student is ready, the teacher will appear, so it is said. But I really think it’s more than that. Claire makes it clear that you don’t have to become a minimalist in the process. She has nailed it when it comes to how sentimental people think. This is an awesome book that has motivated me beyond my own belief. I started decluttering for the first time ever halfway through the book! Love it!!

Keeping my belongings and my bedroom/apartment/home organized is a passion I’ve had since childhood. I’ve always been so thankful for my God-given ability to organize, and I help family members with their organization projects whenever they ask me to do so. That being said, after reading this book I feel extremely motivated to take my organizational skills to the next level!Amazingly, I hadn’t realized until now that I could definitely be considered a sentimental person who has too many “treasures” stored away... a person who would be better off with fewer attachments to temporal possessions. These belongings weigh on my mind. They cost my husband & I a small fortune, as we pay a monthly fee to rent a storage unit.This book gave me a much needed friendly wake up call. Most of my belongings are organized... yet there’s that full storage unit of things that I haven’t gotten around to yet. Whenever I manage to make it over there to declutter and organize I become overwhelmed by all of the decisions that need to be made. This book has given me the tools to get the ball rolling and tackle that project (we’ve lived in our current town for 5 years so it’s definitely time). To the author: your advice is straightforward and extremely motivational and helpful. Thank you!! I hope you’re considering writing a book on digital decluttering!

This book was spot on regarding the difficultly of decluttering for sentimental people. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wish it related more to young families. Claire is writing from her perspective as a grandmother. At times I thought, " It's easy for you to get rid of that now with grown kids and grandkids that don't want it, but how do I deal with this in the midst of having young kids?" However, overall, she does give some good tips that helps the sentimental person let go.
