Ogi Ogas studies computational models of memory, learning, and vision. He was a Department of Homeland Security Fellow. Sai Gaddam studies large-scale data analysis and serves as a data mining consultant in India. They both received their Ph.D.s in computational neuroscience from Boston University.

This book demonstrates one of the strangest, yet most powerful applications of applying big data to search platforms. Instead of compiling an incoherent collection of facts and analytics on sex-related searches, the author ties information of his investigation into a larger evolutionary psychology framework. I read this entire book in only a few sittings because it talks about sub-topics about sexuality that most people don't discuss, let alone research or dive into understanding the (often counter-intuitive or only retrospectively obvious) explanations for why they arise. Most facts that I uncovered were fascinating and novel to me due to the rarity of this data being analyzed in popular statistics.It's incredible how much about human nature can be inferred through a few keystrokes and reading patterns, and long as you aggregate information into sizable data sets. You'll learn that women have a higher tendency to ruminate over emotional situations and can do so with speed. Women prefer men that are in professions associated with status and confidence e.g. romantic novels seldom mention blue-collar workers. In Romance novels written in the 1970s and 1980s, the hero in the story would be sexually aggressive - the book tells us why women's sophisticated machinery to look for cues in partners like security don't alone absolve them of such fantasies due to complex interactions of different psychological adaptations and preferences.I learnt a whole lot more; the variety of information covering myriad nuances of desire can get overwhelming to digest. In societies such as the Yanomamo in the Amazon where the males that mate the most are those that have the highest number of kills & the Ilongots of the Philippines that present torn heads for courtship - women don't mind the violence as long as they themselves manage to capture the alpha's tender sensitive side. In the book, the same is inferred from internet searches by women who look for fantasies that are misogynistic on the surface but offer the same final consolation or expectation to those women.Countless phenomenon are observed that are not necessarily obvious, such as the popularity of courtship-cue rich romance novels that thrive because in terms of neural wiring, women's physical and psychological stimulation is disconnected, and the novels provide direct access to the latter. (Researched by Meridith Chivers).If you're already invested time into reading popular books on evolutionary psychology such as The Evolution of Desire: likely Strategies of Human Mating or any related course textbook, you'll find a good deal of repetition - but instead of boring you, the book will likely provide information to further convince you of the empirical backings of evolutionary narratives that you're normally accustomed to.

I really enjoyed reading this book. At first I was turned off by the writing style. It is written with a sense of humor. For example, they refer to a woman's sexual "software" as the "most sophisticated neural programing on earth" and name it "Ms Marple's Detective Agency." I found this an overstatement and perhaps revealing of an another bias. Also, the name is a bit silly. I got over it and tried to see through the writer's opinions and look at their data and conclusions which were largely non judgmental.As long as the reader can look through the bias that writers sometimes throw into their text (referring to things as "strange" and other quality accessing rather than sticking to facts) the book is fantastic. Much better than the sex negative anti porn stuff you read on the internet these days, such as the cult Your Brain On Porn. These writers actually read other academic writings related to their topics and cite their relevant sources.

This book is a quest into the peculiarities of human sexuality deduced from data mining porn searches in the internet. It also analyzes romantic novels to explore women's sexual desire. I learned a lot form reading this book. The main drawback is that sometimes the author adopts a dogmatic tone and fails to question his own assumptions on a subject that is still quite unexplored an mysterious.

I did enjoyed this book and it was easy to read. The authors compiled a lot of information. Unfortunately, they didn't organize it very well. The book had an overall feel of two schoolboys "fluffing" up a book report. If they had concentrated more on some sort of overall theme or pattern, I would have found it a lot more enjoyable. As it is, the book did have some interesting data to share and a few insightful things to say. Overall, I would have to give it a three out of five stars.

This book is much better than the initial reviews. Sure there are some eyebrow-raising theories, but the neuroscience on sex and gender is pretty new. The research is thorough, and the authors make a good argument in terms of male and female differences in the brain. A good watershed study and worth the read. Even positivistic research has flaws, and this has them, but it opens new pathways to thought.

A rather interesting book, which manages to be both entertaining and informative. It is however a big subject it seeks to cover, which off course some times leads to superficiality. And at other times, the dogmatic use of "humans as monkeys" leads to confusing conclusions when trying to explain behaviour that really is particular to humans.But all in all, quite an interesting book, that I would recommend to anybody (a bit on the expensive for an e-book thoug).

It's kind of a crazy book to read, but not too bad it deals mostly with internet porn and who is looking at it and what they are looking at. Not what I was expecting but informative on how whacked out we are as a society.

Nothing new, just regurgitated old school thinking about men's sexual desires vs women's. It goes into this theory that women are psychologically disconnected from their actual limbic desires, they need emotional attachment, lol... I have person experience to greatly dispute that, as well as the PUA community. Other books that climb out of the box like "What do women want" by Danial Bergner give some added insight to women's real desires that they feel inhibited to express. This one is a bore me snore me...
